Deleted Scene from 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' and Extended Edition Release Date

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced today that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition will be released on Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray November 4, just in time for the holiday shopping season. These sets will include over 25 minutes of footage that wasn't included in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug's theatrical presentation, along with brand new special features.

Warner Bros. have also released a clip via Yahoo! from one of the new deleted scenes. The scene will be included in the extended edition of the film, and it features Bilbo and the dwarves trying to navigate their way through Mirkwood. "Bewitched by the dark magic of the forest, the gang begin to lose their sense of direction, and as this clip shows, their wits too."

We’re excited to see Jackson’s 25-minutes of new footage, which will make the film 186 minutes long. More importantly, we can’t wait to get our hands on The Desolation of Smaug’s extended edition so that we can enjoy nine hours of behind-the-scenes footage from a director that has proven to be a step above anyone else in terms of behind-the-scenes production.
