Fox has a new series debuting tonight called Utopia but rather than the pitch-black British series that Brian mentioned a couple weeks ago, this one is simply a reality series involving a “new society.” They’ve released this clip of the first five minutes in a desperate bid to get people to ignore Sunday night football.
They lay out the premise of the show and introduce some of the cast members as well as the series’ host/narrator, cartoonist Dan Piraro, with his signature look given a period makeover. There’s a lot of talk in the intro about it being a “perfect world” where people can make their own rules and what not, but the cast interviews quickly make it clear that people were picked to deliberately set up antagonistic situations. I mean, it’s a reality Fox after all.
Without further ado, check out the first five minutes here:
The stakes are big for Fox, which needs Utopia to work after a disappointing 2013-14 season. What do you think, will they succeed?
