This Genius Tape Dispenser Is a Gaffer's Dream Come True

If you've ever had to set up for an event that required power, you'll know how much it sucks to tape down cords. You really don't want people to trip and fall, but preventing it is backbreaking, knee-grinding work because you need to lay down tons of gaffer tape.

What’s really cool about the GaffGun, besides laying down gaffer tape in slick fashion and record time, is that it corrals the cables and wires for you. You don’t really have to move them all together and spot tape them in order to tape them down. It just  runs over the cables and as it moves, the cables line up through the GaffGun chute to be taped down automatically.

What’s the catch? Well, it’s the Hollywood premium. GaffGun costs $199 for the basic GaffGun – with extension handle and small cable guide. Yikes. I mean, I can see $99 with the additional cable guides, but $199 strikes me as your typical production tax of charging more because you can.

Still, if it’s going to save you a ton of time taping and re-taping your cables (because if you do it wrong, you know you’re going to retape them at least once), then in the long run it may just be worth it.
